This architecturally distinctive and attractive house is found in Wembury Mews, which is in Highgate, North London. The house has undergone an extensive refurbishment by the young family who live here, one of whom happens to have worked for Renzo Piano and Conran & Partners. This architectural pedigree is evident throughout the house - careful consideration has been made into making the quality of the spaces as interesting as possible (we are talking vaulted ceilings in the bedrooms, the use of floor-to-ceiling folding doors across the entire rear elevation of the house, clever storage, good materials...). You enter the building from a cute cobbled street, along which a number of interesting houses have been built in recent years. The ground floor living space is for entertaining, cooking and relaxing - the open-plan room and the aforementioned glazing open this space up to incorporate the courtyard patio to tremendous effect, giving the space quite a different quality when this is opened. There is also a downstairs wet-room and under-stairs storage. On the first floor there is a multi-functional room which is currently used as an office and the family's second living room - somewhere where their son can play and the scattered toys wont spoil downstairs' very cool aesthetic! This space also has a full wall of glazing and skylights. There is a family bathroom, and two very comfortable double bedrooms. Wembury Mews is in the "Milton's" area of Highgate, almost equidistant to The Village and Crouch End, recently voted as London's best place to live in the Evening Standard. The house is a short Walk to Highgate Underground Station (Northern Line) and is also close to some of London's best green spaces - Highgate and Queens Woods, and the charming Parkland Walk. Hampstead Heath is only 20 minutes walk away too. There are some excellent cafes, deli's and grocery stores, restaurants and other amenities along the Archway Road, and of course Highgate Village, Crouch End, Muswell Hill and Archway are all within walking distance.
